Book 3: Chapter 22 - Brotherhood

Love Code At the End of The World

“Phew. Luckily, you escaped.” He turned around and faced me but his gaze wasn’t fixed on my face anymore. “You definitely can’t marry the people from Silver Moon City,” he mumbled instead of speaking bright and clear.

I had obviously made him feel awkward.

“Pfft!” I burst out in laughter. He looked at me confusedly and I grinned at him. “How could you believe that? Hahaha… Hahaha…” I started laughing hysterically.

He Lei was stunned, then he relaxed as I laughed.

“Heh,” he chuckled too. He abruptly sat next to me, draped his arm over my neck and rubbed my head, “How dare you fool me?!” Suddenly, he let go of me again and became restrained. “I’m sorry. I forgot that you don’t like…”

“It’s okay.” I tidied my hair that he had messed up. “I don’t like people that I don’t know to touch me, especially Xing Chuan!” I squinted my eyes.

“So he really…” He Lei looked surprised.

I shook my head. “No.” I turned to look at him, deep sorrow and rage in my eyes. “After you left, Xing Chuan didn’t bring me to Silver Moon City. Instead, he interrogated me!”

“What?!” He Lei was shocked. “He interrogated you?!” He narrowed his eyes and humphed with a meaningful look. “That’s really Silver Moon City’s style. I even trusted him back then!” He Lei clenched his fist and gritted his teeth.

“He was acting!” I couldn’t control my breathing and my chest started heaving up and down. “He was acting for you, and for me! We were both fooled by him! He actually didn’t trust me. He suspected that I had intentionally gotten close to him and intentionally get injured so that I could follow him to Silver Moon City!”

“That b*stard!” He Lei punched the window angrily and the entire cabin quivered. “He is so good at acting! I was fooled!” He was speechless and full of regret, and looked away angrily to calm himself down.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Opening my eyes again, I continued, “He suspected that I had pretended to lose my memory. So, in order to force the truth out of me, he threatened me. He locked me in the escape pod and ejected me from his spaceship. However, he had never expected the escape pod to break. I was rescued so he lost me. Humph. Then, I became a thief that stole from Silver Moon City because there had been blue crystal energy in his escape pod.”

He Lei slowly turned to look at me, fierce waves that couldn’t be calmed crashing through his black eyes. “You’d gone through so much yet that b*stard threw you off from the sky?!” He Lei’s voice was deep, even gloomy .

He clenched his fist. Suddenly, he pulled me into his tight embrace. His warm hand pressed my head to lean on his shoulder. “I’m sorry, brother. I’m sorry!” He was apologetic and regretful. He hugged me tighter and tighter, as though I was his closest family that he couldn’t abandon. He had regained what he had lost and he didn’t want me to leave him again.

At once, I felt warm and safe. In his embrace, I relaxed entirely and leaned on his shoulder.

For just a little while, I shall let myself be weak.

For just a little while, I shall let myself lean on someone’s shoulder.

“I’m sorry, Luo Bing. I shouldn’t have passed you to Xing Chuan. I should have brought you with me.” He hugged me tightly. Burying himself deep in my neck, he choked with sobs in regret. “It was my fault. I knew that Silver Moon City is not trustworthy. I knew that…”

“No, you didn’t,” I muttered into his shoulder. “Xing Chuan is good at acting. He fooled the entire world. Everyone thought he was a good person.”

“Yeah.” He Lei let go of me. He held my shoulders with his hands and looked into my eyes. “If you didn’t tell me, I…”

I looked up at him, then looked down. “The place that I am staying now, besides Harry and the other members, the remaining people still think of Xing Chuan as a saint.”

“Harry? The person who hit me?” He Lei smiled. “He is nice to you. He is loyal!” He Lei seemed to admire Harry. “I’d like to get to know him.”

“Yeah!” I looked up with a smile. “You will definitely feel like you are sizing up another warrior!” I recommended Harry to him enthusiastically.

His gaze fixed on my face. We were so close to each other, so close that we could see our reflections in each other’s eyes.

Embarrassment flashed in his eyes. He quickly let go of me, turned and looked away. His man bun was then in sight. It was a casual man bun that was tied with a shabby rope.

I quickly took down my purple hairband and went to wrap it on his man bun. He was stunned and wanted to turn around. I immediately said, “Don’t move!”

His body grew stiff. As I started to tie up the hair bun for him, his body relaxed.

“What do you mean by sizing up another warrior?” His voice was hoarse as he spoke gently.

“It’s like a warrior getting to know another warrior and they appreciate one another.”

“Mm, not bad. Sizing up another warrior.”

“Done.”

He turned around and I gave him a thumbs-up. “Even more handsome now!”

But his gaze fell on my face. The dim lighting swept my face as I put on a wide smile. “I am also sizing up a warrior!”

He came back to reality with a start. Taking a deep breath, he quickly looked away and crossed his arms on his knee, looking down as he breathed deeply. A ray of light flashed across his face, showing that he was blushing.

“What’s wrong with you?” I asked.

He shook his head and replied, “Nothing. Are you with those people now?” He turned slightly but didn’t look at me.

I tied my long hair with an ordinary hair band in my pocket. It was natural for a girl to prepare extra hairbands. “Yeah, they are my family now.”

“Luo Bing!” He Lei lifted his face and looked at me, his deep eyes solemn.

I looked at him. “What?”

He stared at me for a while then spoke, “Follow me.”

I was stunned. My heart was chaotic all of a sudden and I lowered my face. “I, I…”

“You don’t feel like leaving them?” He asked as he watched the side of my face.

I nodded. “They saved me. They are like my brothers and sisters. I…”

“I understand.” He put his hand on my shoulder. “Actually, I joined the Aurora Legion in the north.”

“What?” I looked at him confusedly because I had never heard of the name.
