Chapter 86: Protect
Swhoosh!
My soul was revived at the graveyard of Silver Moon Valley. It was surprisingly close to my body, only 10 minutes at most!
I immediately floated toward my body.
By the time I reached the forest, I noticed that He Yi, Xu Yang, and Murong Mingyue’s bodies had changed positions again. They must’ve been killed again after reviving!
I gritted my teeth and charged. Die!
Swhoosh!
The moment I came back to life, my blade cut through a mage’s throat for 800 damage. The attack was of course fatal, and I simultaneously sent my Dark Wasp after two nearby archers!
The rest of them didn’t matter. Right now my first priority was to kill everyone who had the power to threaten me!
Swhoosh swhoosh swhoosh…
At first, Domination Clan’s players kept reviving at half health, but I cut them down again and again until no one dared to revive for a time.
Obviously, their souls were nearby, planning a coordinated mass respawn.
Crack!
I stabbed the Ghost Ice Soul into the soil beneath my feet and shouted at my surroundings in a domineering fashion, “Revive now and prove to me that the Domination Clan is invincible in Floating Ice City if you have a real pair in your pants! I’ll show you that you’ll never be the top dog of anything, you bastards!”
Dominating Knight God, Dominating Mage God, Dominating Archer God and a couple more players fell for my provocation and revived as I expected them to. They were the main force of this party, so at least 10 other players chose to revive along with them!
“You are too arrogant, Broken Halberd Sinks Into Sand! Die!”
Dominating Knight God charged forward and thrust his spear at me like a pouncing dragon. I met his charge head-on and changed my footing at the last second, drawing a beautiful arc on the ground while lowering my center of gravity. His spear thrust passed harmlessly above my shoulder, but my Ghost Ice Soul slammed into his chest like a ray of aurora. I dragged my blade across the man’s flesh. Just like that, his body split apart!
“Ah!”
Dominating Knight God’s scream was absolutely chilling!
I didn’t pause to catch my breath for even a moment, my mind blinded by murderous fury since a long time ago. I thrust my sword forward to catch Dominating Mage God, and although the man tried to zigzag out of the way, I was just a bit faster. When my blade touched his Magic Shield, I pushed harder, thrusting my sword in and activated Ice Ray. It penetrated both his shield and the man himself!
Crack!
I felt a chill behind my back as Dominating Archer God hit me with a Devil Piercing Arrow. His attack had pierced through my Defense completely. It hurts!
418!
The damage was so high that I couldn’t afford even a moment to think. Charging forward without hesitation, my Ghost Ice Soul’s crescent slashes sent two archers flying. The path toward my target clear, I lunged at Dominating Archer God and slapped the top of his head with Pardon. Struck with realization, his eyes bulged and his face paled, clearly aware of what was to come...
Pu!
I swung my sword downward and literally split Dominating Archer God in half.
Behind me, the Dark Wasp killed three players before it was finally taken out. I seized the opening to launch another two attacks, killing everyone and resetting the battle once more.
Crack!
I stabbed the Ghost Ice Soul into the soil again and stared at my surroundings coldly. My dark cyan cape fluttered lightly behind my back, and my metal armor was drenched in blood. I must look like a devil who was glaring at the bodies it murdered!
About ten minutes later, another group of people came back to life.
Crack! Crack!
I cut down two players in a row, but the third player to revive was someone I could never kill. It was a beautiful magic knight with a pair of exquisite eyes and a small mouth. She looked like she wanted to say something, but was unsure where to start.
He Yi had finally revived!
Swhoosh swhoosh!
Xu Yang and Murong Mingyue had revived as well.
“It’s you, Sinks Into Sand?”
Murong Mingyue looked a bit surprised by the identity of their savior.
He Yi didn’t move a muscle. All she did was stare at me as if she wanted to see through me!
Light flashed all around us at this moment. Dominating Archer God, Dominating Knight God, Dominating Mage God—a total of 15 people had revived and surrounded us once more.
This is bad!
I held my blade horizontally and said solemnly, “You guys break through the southeast while I draw their attention with my pet. Don’t let them camp your body no matter what, you’ll lose levels too quickly that way!”
I tossed He Yi her Elemental Barrier while adding, “Here, your shield!”
Startled, He Yi stared at me with as her mouth opened slightly. She still didn’t know what to say.
“Go!”
The Dark Wasp attacked players at the southeast direction under my control. I myself charged straight toward the leaders of the enemy group, Dominating Archer God, Dominating Knight God and Dominating Mage God!
I half zigzagged toward Dominating Knight God and successfully baited out his thrust. I didn’t give him any chance to recover and killed him in one strike.
Thud thud thud!
However, the kill came at the price of three arrows to the chest. I had a total of 1270 HP, and that attack just took over 500 HP! Their damage is way too close for comfort!
Seeing that Dominating Mage God was casting Fire Dragon Roar, I chugged a health potion and thrusted my sword at his chest before he had the chance to finish the chant. An icy spear piercing his body, he slumped to the ground, the third time Dominating Mage God succumbed to my Ice Ray!
Level 50 skills are just fucking insane! Coupled with the Ghost Ice Soul, they crushed these Level 40 players like they were nothing but ants!
I prayed that I wouldn’t lose the Ghost Ice Soul if they managed to kill me. It would pain me for months if that was the case! Moreover, as long as the Ghost Ice Soul wasn’t lost, I could keep one-shotting them even if I fell to Level 40.
In a deadly dance of swordplay I hacked down one enemy after another. My HP was falling rapidly and I had to drink HP potions and rely on Regeneration of the Undead, Earth Escape and a variety of techniques to stay alive as long as possible. Unfortunately, I died when there were still 3 enemies left. Turning around I could see He Yi collapsing to the ground. At her level, there was just no surviving an attack from a Level 42 mage.
Swhoosh!
My soul revived at the graveyard again, and I rushed to the forest like a madman. The second I reached my body, I came back to life and killed the three campers with a Slayer Slash, an Ice Ray and a basic attack. After that, I downed HP pot, returned to full health and waited for the Domination Clan to revive once more.
By now, the ground of this part of the forest was completely drenched in blood. Stepping on top of Dominating Knight God’s dead body and gripping the Ghost Ice Soul, I looked down on the world like a proud devil.
Swhoosh!
Behind me, a beautiful figure came back to life once more. He Yi stared blankly at my back while muttering, “It has to be him… it has to be…”
Murong Mingyue also came back to life at the same time and whispered to her, “Eve, what are you talking about?”
On the verge of tears, He Yi pointed at me and cried out, “He’s Lu Chen, he has to be Lu Chen… I… I can feel it. He’s the only one in this world who can…”
He Yi ran up to me and cried loudly, “Lu Chen, why are you avoiding me? Why? Do you have any idea how… how…”
Bitterness and pain filled my heart completely. Should I tell He Yi my true identity?
But I recalled the discoloration of my skin and that shocking virus report. Could I really stay by her side like I used to? Nothing was the same as it had been before. The darkness had become my only refuge. Even a ray of sunlight was enough to make me shiver with pain.
I turned around and employed the hoarse voice of a Night Creature. “Beauty, you got the wrong person. I’m not… Lu Chen, whoever that is.”
“No, you have to be him!”
He Yi stared deeply at me. Her eyes were covered in tears, and her breasts were bouncing constantly because of how emotional she was. She looked incredibly beautiful even though her metal armor was in tatters.
I sighed. “Leave quickly. I already told you that I’m not the person you’re looking for.”
I abruptly unveiled my cloak and revealed to her my horrifying face.
“Ah?!”
He Yi took two steps backward in shock. Still in tears, she shook her head and murmured, “How can this be… how can this be…”
Murong Mingyue walked up to He Yi and supported her. Then, she looked at me and snorted. “Bastard, what are you scaring Eve for?”
I said seriously, “Cut the nonsense and use the return scroll now before the Domination Clan revives!”
Murong Mingyue took out a return scroll and passed it to He Yi, but He Yi simply stared at me blankly like it was the only thing she knew how to do. Her face was completely covered in tears.
Swhoosh!
A streak of red light cut through He Yi. She collapsed slowly to the ground as the return scroll fell from her body. It was a hostile assassin.
Absolutely furious, I charged forward and sent the assassin’s head flying.
All around me, the Domination Clan came to life once more.
Eventually, Xu Yang died, and so did Murong Mingyue.
Thus, I fought alone, and died once again. I revived and killed them all, only to be overwhelmed by their mass respawn not long after.
Three hours passed by in the blink of an eye. It was now past 10 am in the morning, and I had dropped all the way to Level 45. At this point, I was breathing quite heavily even though I was still gripping the Ghost Ice Soul. I had lost Soul Turmoil Armor and Beast-faced Turmoil Helmet twice in a row, but I was always able to kill Dominating Knight God and reclaim my equipment. Therefore, the only real loss I suffered was 5 levels.
The Domination Clan fared much worse compared to me. Dominating Knight God, Dominating Mage God, and Dominating Archer God had all lost at least 10 levels on average, and they were completely out of Floating Ice City’s Heavenly Ranking. The rest of the players had also lost countless levels by my hand.
Most of the players mentally collapsed and completely logged out near the end of the battle. They had never seen such a bitter battle in their whole lives, and to say that I fought with no regard for my life at all would be a massive understatement. Although Dominating Knight God and his brothers were just as crazed as I was, it didn’t change the fact that I had somehow managed to camp their bodies—all twenty or so top-tier pros of the Domination Clan—by myself, for an entire in-game night!
At 10:20 am, Gui Guzi and Du Thirteen finally showed up at Silver Moon Valley and came to my aid. When Gui Guzi took out Dominating Archer God with his Death Combo and saw me, his eyes actually turned watery. It was because I was climbing out of a pile of corpses while looking the sorriest I had ever been since I entered Heavenblessed. He asked, “Brother, you… did you have to do this?”
I gave him a small smile and kept my silence.
A few minutes later, another beautiful figure appeared from Silver Moon Forest. Lin Yixin had come online to help me with a couple dozens of Snowy Cathaya players.
I was completely drenched in blood, red droplets dribbling off my Gold-grade sword. My equipment was in complete tatters, and I stood on top of a pile of corpses looking like I would keel over and die at any moment. Lin Yixin stared at me with shock and admiration before she walked up to me and supported my shoulder. “Have… have you gone crazy? It’s too early in the morning for something this big. What drove you to do something like this?”
I shot her a tired smile and turned to look at He Yi’s body behind me.
Lin Yixin was an intelligent woman. She quickly figured out parts of the truth and said, “Is… is she the guild leader of Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls? Is she the reason you aren’t willing to join the Snowy Cathaya?”
I nodded before whispering, “I’m exhausted. See you later…”
I took out a return scroll and teleported back to Floating Ice City. Now that Gui Guzi, Du Thirteen, Lin Yixin and Snowy Cathaya had arrived, He Yi, Murong Mingyue, and Xu Yang were finally safe. I supposed I barely completed my mission.
I dared not, and wouldn’t, face He Yi again. The crushing look in her eyes made me feel worse than anything that had happened to my own person.
……
“Phew!”
I took off my helmet and felt tired enough to pass out on the spot. I took a bath, ate a small meal, and went straight to bed.
